Berry

It's the town so many people fall in love with!

It could be its beautiful restored mainstreet buildings, emporiums and other classic architecture. Or perhaps it's the shops famous for fashion finds, antiques and décor, the two very different pubs, the bakeries…better go and check for yourself why people love Berryso. It's also on the doorstep of other famously loved places like Kangaroo Valley, Foxground, Gerroa, Shoalhaven Heads and Seven Mile Beach.

Australia's Oyster Coast

Best Shucking trail on the Coast

The Shoalhaven is well known for its seafood and oysters are one of the specialties. Australia’s Oyster Coast produces three oyster species - Sydney Rock, Angasi Oysters and Pacific Oysters. They maintain that in a similar way to how wine exhibits its distinctive terroir, oysters have a flavour reflecting their origin and the mix of nutrients in their habitat. To allow you to discover this, Australia's Oyster Coast has compiled a special self-guided oyster trail. Don’t miss Jim Wild’s Oyster Service at Greenwell Point for a farm gate experience that will delight your taste buds.

Wineries

Wine and dine with a view

At various spots around the Shoalhaven, nestled amongst lush green rolling hills are some of the best kept secrets of food and wine. Just ten minutes from Berry, a stop at Coolangatta Estateis more than just a break for lunch. This one time bustling colonial village dates back to 1822, the beginning of European settlement on the South Coast. Since the 70s, this hamlet has been painstakingly restored and you can explore, and stay in, its rich historical patina. Coolangatta is now a much-awarded winery and its Firegrill Restaurant serves hearty local food along with oysters and share plates known as the grape pickers board or blacksmiths board. In good weather lunch or dinner is served in the wine garden with the view.

Let the local chefs transform the freshest Shoalhaven produce

Extensive fishing and farming industries in the Shoalhaven create the perfect opportunity for restaurants to feature local produce. The setting of the historic harbour master's house that is Wharf Rd, with its huge beams, fading brickwork and outlook over the grand Shoalhaven River and iconic bridge is the scene for a memorable dining experience. While the building evokes history, the fare puts the best of local seafood and produce on your table including wagyu and alpaca from nearby farms, rock salt dry-aged on premises and cooked on a custom built South American-style parrila barbecue. It's the perfect scene for a unique long lazy lunch or romantic dinner.
