The Rose Gardens

King George Terrace, Parkes, NSW 2600 Australia

The Old Parliament House Gardens are in the heart of the Parliamentary Zone on either side of Old Parliament House. The four rose gardens were established in the 1930s and contain 515 different roses. See how roses developed from the wild species to modern varieties. Until 1989, the Gardens were used exclusively by Members, Senators and their parliamentary staff as a retreat from the business of government. Today you can enjoy their beautiful surrounds and unique history. Entry is free.

While there, visit the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House and be inspired by the real life stories of ordinary Australians who have actively shaped the society we live in today.
